Privacy Policy

Last updated: 4 August 2026

1. Introduction

CardScene ("we", "us", "our") operates the CardScene web application and the domain cardscene.com.au (the "Service"). The Service is a beta-stage Australian Pokémon card trading event guide, collection tracker, and watchlist builder. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly, including your email address, display name, city, and profile details when you create an account. We also collect the collection, watchlist, and price-alert data you choose to save, and event suggestions you submit. Automatically collected data includes your device type, approximate location (for regional event filtering), and usage analytics such as pages viewed and features used.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to provide and personalise the Service — to display your collection and watchlist, send price alerts, show relevant local events, and maintain your public portfolio. We use aggregated, de-identified data to improve features, debug issues, and produce market insights such as top sellers and price trends.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with trusted infrastructure providers that power the Service (including authentication, database hosting, and email delivery), each under their own privacy obligations. We may disclose information where required by law or to protect our rights.

5. Third-Party Market Data

Card and sealed product prices, sales counts, and images are sourced from third-party aggregators (including CardTracker and TCGDex). We do not control the accuracy of this data and display it for informational purposes only.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account and portfolio data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from the Edit Profile screen, which removes your personal portfolio, watchlist, and profile data.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted authentication tokens and row-level access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is fully secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Cookies and Local Storage

We use local storage and cookies to maintain your session, remember preferences, and enable authentication. You can disable these in your browser, though some features may not function correctly as a result.

9. Your Rights

You may access, correct, or delete your personal data by editing your profile or contacting us. Australian Privacy Principles apply to our handling of your personal information.

10. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us for removal.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
